Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR

About Us

MoodWise is run by Clare Beavan and Tracey Patrick. We have worked together for over 20 years and have extensive experience of working with psychological problems using CBT and EMDR.

After working as occupational therapists for many years CBT training was a natural progression for us. We wanted to work with people in a way that would help them understand their difficulties and develop practical skills to enhance wellbeing. CBT does this beautifully. It is a ‘common-sense’ approach and is based on scientific evaluation. It has an evidence base demonstrating its effectiveness for common mental health problems. We have both completed post graduate training in CBT.
Our area of expertise is in working with adults who have emotional disorders like:
Panic
Agoraphobia
Anger
Generalised Anxiety Disorder (excessive worry)
Health Anxiety
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Social Anxiety
Sleep Difficulties including insomnia
Specific Phobias
Skin Picking
Hair Pulling (Trichotillomania)
Depression
Low Self-Esteem
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Work related stress

We are both HCPC registered and have full accreditation with our governing body, the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP). Accreditation means that we have had the correct training in CBT and involves us demonstrating our competence in CBT to the BABCP. This competence is regularly monitored and ensures that we keep up to date with evidence based research and the application of skills and techniques.

Accreditation is important. Even if you choose not to use us please ensure that your CBT therapist is accredited with the BABCP.

"You've helped me with my anxiety and OCD. I can manage my intrusive thoughts and my compulsions. I feel like I have my life ahead of me again."
"I have been having online sessions for my anxiety and low mood. Initially I was sceptical about online sessions but they have been really helpful. I would recommend online therapy."
