About Us

MoodWise Ltd is run by Clare Beavan and Tracey Patrick. We have worked together for 18 years and have extensive experience of working with psychological problems using CBT and EMDR.
Our interest in mental health began many years ago when we trained as occupational therapists. Over the years we have worked in acute psychiatric hospitals; in community settings with people aged 18+ and in secure units. We have worked as CBT therapists in North Yorkshire for 8 years.
Our area of expertise is in working with adults who have emotional disorders such as:
Generalised Anxiety Disorder (excessive worry)
Health Anxiety
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Social Anxiety
Sleep Difficulties including insomnia
Specific Phobias
Body Image difficulties
Skin Picking
Hair Pulling (Trichotillomania)
Low Self-Esteem
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Work related stress
We are both HCPC registered and have full accreditation with our governing body, the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP). Accreditation means that we have had the correct training in CBT and involves us demonstrating our competence in CBT to the BABCP. This competence is regularly monitored and ensures that we keep up to date with evidence based research and the application of skills and techniques.
Accreditation is important. Even if you choose not to use us please ensure that your CBT therapist is accredited with the BABCP.
After working as occupational therapists for many years CBT training was a natural progression for us. We wanted to work with people in a way that would help them understand their difficulties and develop practical skills to enhance wellbeing. CBT does this beautifully. It is a ‘common-sense’ approach and is based on scientific evaluation. It has an evidence base demonstrating its effectiveness for common mental health problems. In 2011 we both completed post graduate training in CBT.
"Thank you so much for all the support you have given me. I never thought there could be any positives to having depression but with your help I have learnt to change and realise that I can be empowered to do it myself."
"I realise that I am 'a work in progress' but I can get so much joy now out of the yuckiest of days. Thank you for helping me turn on the lightbulb."
