Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focused
Therapy and EMDR - Leeds, Wetherby & Online

MoodWise is Clare Beavan.

I bring over 30 years of experience in mental health. I specialise in working with psychological difficulties using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

My journey began as occupational therapist, where I supported individuals across a wide range of mental health settings. Over time, it became clear that CBT was a natural next step in my professional development.
I was drawn to its structured, practical approach—one that helps people understand their difficulties and develop tools to improve their wellbeing.

CBT is grounded in science, with a strong evidence base for its effectiveness in treating common mental health problems. It’s a straightforward, collaborative therapy that empowers individuals to make meaningful changes in their lives. I have completed postgraduate training in CBT, and I remain committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each person’s needs.

Professional Standards

I hold full accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP), the professional body that sets the standard for CBT practice in the UK. BABCP accreditation confirms that I have completed rigorous, specialist training in CBT and have demonstrated our competence through a comprehensive assessment process. This accreditation is not a one-time achievement—it requires ongoing professional development, regular supervision, and a commitment to staying current with the latest research and evidence-based practices.

Why Accreditation Matters

Choosing an accredited CBT therapist ensures that you are working with someone who is trained to the highest professional standards and who continues to meet those standards over time. Even if you decide not to work with me, I strongly encourage you to check that any CBT therapist you choose is accredited with the BABCP. It’s an important safeguard for receiving safe, effective, and ethical therapy.
